Self-Portrait (2013)
This short film is a personal exploration of the transformative power of artistic hobbies, captured using my newly acquired Canon DSLR and RODE Stereo Videomic Pro at the time. It tells a short and comedic yet thoughtful story about how embracing creative pursuits can enrich our daily lives, and features glimpses into my own artistic endeavours, such as railway modelling, drawing, and photography. It concludes with a reflection on the profound truth of Pablo Picasso's renowned quote: "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
Wandering (2016)
In 2013, I embarked on a challenging personal project: creating a no-budget horror drama aimed at reaching a wider audience. The film delves into the unsettling consequences that arise when a young man, grieving the loss of his father, befriends an isolated stranger in his new hometown.
I believe this project is a testament to the emotional depth and impact that films can achieve, even on a shoestring budget. It has earned several notable accolades that reinforced my passion for filmmaking, including an initial screening at a local independent cinema, placing as a runner-up in the 2016 British Horror Film Festival, and being described as an "insane achievement" by actor/comedian Tom Rosenthal in 2021. In addition, it won the Audience Choice Award for the January 2025 Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions and surpassed 1000 views on YouTube following further recognition on LinkedIn in 2024.
Cinematography: The Digital Age (2019)
Nutkhut's Hidden Histories: Umrao Singh Yadav & St. George's Garrison Church (2021)
This episode of Nutkhut's Hidden Histories series focuses on the fate of St. George's Garrison Church during World War II and its subsequent redevelopment into a memorial. It features interviews with acclaimed actress Joanna Lumley and Nutkhut founder Ajay Chaabra, and was edited during my time at Solent University within their professional editing suites alongside other staff members.
Cell Wars (2022)
This animated short film, created to educate younger and disabled audiences about cancer, employs a unique and engaging visual style inspired by the acclaimed Star Wars franchise. It depicts cancer cells as stylized space ships, fully hand-drawn by myself on paper and then digitally enhanced in Photoshop.
I animated the film using keyframing techniques in Final Cut Pro, while adding dynamic visual effects like lasers, fire, and explosions via After Effects alongside Final Cut Pro's built-in tools. The film's narrative is brought to life by the voice of my partner, Kerry Etheridge.
A Seizure in the Gym (2023)
This short film, featured in Autek's documentary What's My Anxiety, explores the personal impact of epilepsy on my mental health. It poignantly recounts a seizure I experienced in a gym in 2021 and highlights the compassion and support I received from those who witnessed it. This deeply personal film was made to raise epilepsy awareness to a larger audience.
In The Gym (2024)
This informative documentary, produced as part of Energise Me's Hampshire Active Health program, provides a friendly and insightful look into gym culture. Co-directed with Southampton-based filmmaker Shannon R. Hammond, the film features experienced gym instructor Sam Johnson offering valuable insights into physical wellbeing and gym inclusivity. The film was selected for screening at Southampton Film Week’s Short Story Cinema 2 event in November 2024.
What's My Anxiety? (2024)
This feature length documentary, developed during my time at Autek CIC, features interviews with eight people who share their unique experiences with anxiety. It includes my aforementioned Seizure in the Gym video, but I also assisted with editing other segments of the film to achieve a compelling end result. It was a truly valuable experience, allowing me to contribute to a meaningful theme about mental health and its unseen impact on many people within modern society.
Disability Boxing with Winchester Go LD (2024)
A short video made during my time at Autek CIC which promotes Winchester Go LD's community boxing club. It highlights the club's positive impact on disabled aspiring boxers, emphasising their commitment to participant welfare and the diverse range of facilities and sessions they offer. I was responsible for editing a substantial amount of raw footage into a concise and engaging video, and for incorporating dynamic titles to enhance visual appeal and effectively communicate the club's message and details to the target audience.
Winchester ParkRun (2024)
A vibrant promotional video created for Winchester ParkRun during my time at Autek CIC, highlighting the inclusive spirit and community feel of the weekly event. Featuring interviews with staff and participants, it outlines the structure and inclusivity of the ParkRun experience, all set within the beautifully scenic River Park. This project marked one of my first major professional experiences with location scouting; I independently explored the setting, took notes for ideal shots, and spoke with staff to learn more about the event and thus understand how best to shape the video.
Short-Form Social Media Content Compilation (2025)
A compilation of short-form videos created for various social media platforms, primarily TikTok and LinkedIn, showcasing my editing work for ongoing voluntary projects at The Workstyle Revolution. Each video highlights my ability to craft engaging, concise content that resonates with target audiences. This compilation demonstrates my skills in creating dynamic, visually appealing content, tailored to the needs of each project, from community initiatives to promotional campaigns. This compilation will be updated over time as I edit more short-form content.
